Frequently asked questions:
Here are answers to some questions you may have. Our Audio Books Homepage also gives a nice overview of how the site works. If you don't find your answer please view our Knowledgebase or submit a support ticket to the Support Centre. We will get you an answer as soon as we can.
Who are we?
This is an independent web site and not tied to any one publisher. Therefore we can be completely unbiased as far as content and reviews are concerned. We have done our best to provide an informative and easy to use site for audio lovers that provides easy access to the titles you are interested in. Hopefully, we have accomplished our goal, but if you want to suggest areas for improvement please do not hesitate to Contact Us.
What file formats are used?
We supply audiobooks in the format required by the Publisher, which will be either encoded wma, or mp3. It is not possible for us to supply a title in a choice of format.
Mp3 files will play on both PCs and Macs and most portable players. Unfortunately, due to the withdrawal of support by Microsoft for their Windows Media Player for Mac product, wma files will not currently play on Macs.
Audiobooks supplied in wma will work on players listed in Microsoft’s “Plays For Sure “ list here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/playsforsure/default.aspx
which our service is designed to support. If you try and download a title that is not compatible with the Mac you will receive a warning before you get into the payment process.
Will the files work on an iPod?
Yes! All you need to do is burn the files to CD first (this is always a good idea anyway to backup your investment) and then rip that CD straight into iTunes. You can then transfer the audio to your iPod in the normal way.
Can I copy the files to CD and listen on my stereo or in-car system?
Yes! Copying the files to a CD is very easy, especially if you are using Windows. To watch a short demo Click Here.
Are the files easy to download?
It is very easy. Once you have made your purchase you will be directed to a special part of the site (your library) where you can download the files you have purchased. Instructions are provided on the download page. In the unlikely event that you experience any problems, you can contact us at our Support Centre, and we will be happy to help.
Is any special software required?
No. All the files on this site will work on a standard PC.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes! If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase just let us know and we will refund your money in full. You can purchase from us with complete confidence. Our Refund Policy is conveniently located at the bottom of your shopping Basket for easy access just prior to checkout.
Is it legal?
Absolutely! ALL of the content on this site has been approved by the publishers and copyright holders. As a paying customer you are entitled to download and listen to these files as often as you wish. However, as with any copyrighted material, it is illegal to make copies of the files and give them to others.
How long do the downloads take?
It depends on the speed of your internet connection. Broadband users will find it takes just a few minutes per part. If you have a 56k dial-up connection it will take quite a bit longer. Longer recordings are split into several parts so even with a slow connection you can begin listening to the first part while the others are downloading.
Can I listen to samples first?
Yes! All of the titles on this site include a 5 minute sample that you can listen to before you buy. The sample recording you hear will not sound as good as the audio you will download once you have made your purchase as it has been compressed to allow for easy streaming even when slower connection speeds are used.
