5Do you think you’ll like “Willow”? I’m sure you will!
By Priscilla Stafford
What do you get when you have George Lucas AND Ron Howard, both famous for their work in the movie-making industry, producing and directing this movie? You’ve got it, a fantastic, rollicking fantasy-adventure!

The evil Queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh) has for years been searching for the baby who, according to an ancient prophecy, will end her reign of terror. Taking all the pregnant women, she searches each and every baby when one day, the sacred girl is born. But before Bavmorda could kill her, a faithful midwife takes the child away from the castle. When she realizes she is being pursued, she lets the baby drift away on a river. The abandoned girl is found by a Nelwyn named Willow Ufgood (Warwick Davis). But Willow quickly finds out that the baby is being tracked down Bavmorda’s armies, including her daughter Sorsha (Joanne Whalley) and General Kael (Pat Roach). Willow sets out to the crossroads to give the baby back to the Daikini, or the big humans. He finds out though through the magical Cherlindrea (Maria Holvoe) about the baby, Elora Danan (played by both Ruth and Kate Greenfield) and the prophecy about her. Willow, with the companionship of swordsman and warrior Madmartigan (Val Kilmer) and Brownies Rool and Franjean (Kevin Pollak & Rick Overton), they go to seek help from sorceress Fin Raziel (Patricia Hayes).

A totally charming movie, “Willow” will be one of my favorite movies to watch for a long time. Though people must be warned that though it is rated PG, it’s more like PG-13 in some areas and I strongly suggest that adults watch before their children do.

Everything is wonderful about the movie, from the directing, the acting by the whole cast, an enchanting plot, pretty good special effects, and plenty of humor and action. There’s humor that is witty, sarcastic, and laugh-out-loud funny. Val Kilmer as Madmartigan and the two Brownies gets plenty of great lines. Yet at the same time the movie is pretty serious with all of the battles against good and evil, and Val Kilmer is a great swash-buckling swordfighter and handles the sword pretty well.

And this DVD isn’t called “Special Edition” for no reason. Though it may not have as many special features as many recent movie special editions, “Willow” will satisfy you. 1) Commentary by Warwick Davis, 2) Willow: Making of an Adventure Featurette, 3) Featurette: Morf to Morphing, 4) Behind-the-Scenes Still Gallery, 5) Theatrical Teasers and Trailers, 6) 8 TV Spots, and a few more. One thing you must watch is the ‘Making of an Adventure Featurette’. Looking at an older Ron Howard with his mustache certainly was a little shock to me after seeing him play Opie on the “Andy Griffith Show” and acting in “Happy Days”. One part that was fun about it is when they were talking about the love scenes in the movie. Val Kilmer admits that whenever he had to kiss Joanne Whalley, afterwards he always forgot his lines and no matter how many times they had to do it, he never got it right. They were married after making the movie but unfortunately, they were divorced later on.

So if you are thinking about getting “Willow”, I strongly recommend that you watch it! Enjoyable for the whole family, if your children are old enough to handle some parts of the film. And if you have a chance to check out the quotes and trivia page on Amazon, I suggest you do because you can find out all sorts of things.

5Willow
By W. T. Johnston Jr.
A great story about a Nelwyn named Willow (Warwick Davis) who finds a baby in the river. It turns out that this baby, named Elora Dannan, is part of a profecy that was said to destroy the evil Queen Bavmorda when the child grew older. Willow sets out on an adventure with a warrior named Madmartigan (Val Kilmer) to save the baby from being killed by the queen. Fairies, trolls, dragons and sorcerers magic bring this story to life by the talents of Industrial Light and Magic. My favorite scene is when all these fairies are flying around in the woods and the head fairy Shalindria gives Willow her wand and tells him to protect the baby and how important his quest is to the whole kingdom. The brownies are very funny too. One of them is played by Kevin Pollack. I highly recommend this movie for people that really like fantasy and adventure.

4Pure, nonsensical satisfaction!
By D. Litton
“Willow” is a mixed bag of different movie venues and audience reactions, ranging from originality to predictability, from exciting to downright weird. It lacks the ingenuity and spirit of such child-oriented movies as “The Neverending Story” and “The Goonies,” but for the most part, it pays off, and you may be surprised to find yourself enjoying different sections of the film.

The beginning is wonderful, a highly suspenseful opening in which an evil queen brings all pregnant mothers in her kingdom before her in hopes of locating and destroying the one chosen to bring her reign of terror to an end. A midwife smuggles the child out of the castle, and before she is set upon by wildebeests, she sends the child floating down the river, where it comes to the attention of the Nelywn community.

In the world of “Willow,” there are two sets of people: the Nelwyns, a community of short, midget people, and the Daikinis, regular-sized humans. The baby is a Daikini, and so Willow Ufgood (Warwick Davis) is called upon to return the baby to its original habitat. Setting out on the dangerous journey, he soon meets adventurous Madmartigan (Val Kilmer), and the two pair up to take the baby to its destination, which changes almost every minute as they encounter such beings as a forest fairy, and a sorceress who comes in the form of a rat, a bird, a goat, etc.

The movie isn’t really interested in setting a straight course for itself. The constant changing of setting, pace, and destination are all a reminder that a movie such as this is more of a device for action and humor rather than logical plot. Because this movie is aimed at children, and has a childlike quality of its own, it gets away with such a tactic.

Having said that, the film is exceptionally entertaining. It’s full of humor and yes, even a little bit of suspense, likeable characters, who are sometimes so goofy and cumbersome that you’ll laugh until you cry, and a story that is the stuff dreams are made of. Kilmer’s character is a throwback of sorts to the swashbuckling heroes of yesteryear, while Davis is a hero as well, and the one we all come out rooting for.

The action sequences are mindless good fun, ranging from a high-speed horse chase to some showdowns at various castles throughout the land. These scenes all give Lucas and director Ron Howard a chance to showcase some of the finer set pieces in a children’s movie, from knights in armor and beautiful yet foreboding vistas, to dark, gothic castles and otherworldly creatures conjured out of magical powers.

Watching the movie as an adult proves to be far different than from seeing it in my childhood. As a child, I remembered the excitement of such scenes, and looking back on them, I find that it is unfair to dismiss the movie on its logic. I do find that some scenes are somewhat disturbing for younger children, at whom the movie is aimed, such as the sequence in which a two-headed dragon rises out of a river; they seem a bit too daring for a children’s movie.

The fantasy land created in “Willow” lives up to the expectations of the genre, and even goes a bit further. The story is a bit befuddled, but paying attention to its flaws takes away from the fun and excitement it has in spinning its tale. The special effects are dazzling without being jaw-dropping, and the action is intense without being gratuitous. As a children’s movie, “Willow” is pure, nonsensical satisfaction.

Midnight prayer is the most certain arena for breaking satanic bondages and limitations. No matter how strong and difficult the yokes of the enemy over our life, they can not protest persistent and prolonged midnight prayer. The devil knows this very well, and that is the reason why he will do everything to admonish you from getting up in the midnight to pray. Midnight is like a spiritual highway, and like I have said earlier, most of the things that occur to us are programmed into our life at this period. So, when you likewise get up and battle at this time, you invariable take percentage in settling what happens to your life.

There are so a lot of people living in satanic bondages today. There are so a good deal of individuals, families and groups that are unknowingly engaged in a struggle with satanic yokes. There are millions of humans walking on the streets with their hands and legs bound in the spirit with chains by powerful satanic forces. I recognise this will sound strange to a good deal of people, but it is a fact. It is a spiritual matter. You may only be conscious of this if the spirit of God chooses to show you. Recently, I saw in a revelation a woman I have known for more than 34 years bound with chains, hands and legs. I was shocked. If not that I know the imagination came from God and that I have personally passed through the same experience, I would have doubted it. Now, what has being happening in the woman’s life is a sure confirmation of the revelation. She has not known breakthrough since I know her.

When you experience perennial troubles in your life or family, year after year, you face the same kind of problems, or you feel you are hindered from crossing sure limits in life, then it becomes advisable to go into prayers and ask God to show you the source of your troubles. Most times, it is the work of Satan and the agents of his dark kingdom. In Africa and likewise in a great deal of other parts of the world, it is not strange to listen that agents of darkness chain destinies, fruitfulness, progress, or even health of persons in the spirit realm, exceptionally those operating in witchcraft covens. Victims of such satanic manipulation will struggle through life.

They will do each thing humanly possible to have breakthrough in life, but will never succeed. Some will even be programmed not to marry, not have babies or have a successful marriage. All these happen. We not only see them in the lives of unbelievers but unfortunately, amongst believers also. And I believe this became possible because the church of today is not living in the fullness of the power of God. We go to church, have mechanized services without anointing. Remember the word of God said that the anointing (presence of God) will always break each yoke. But does the church of today have the anointing? Today’s church is fast asleep, and do not forget that Jesus said the enemy comes to sow tares while you sleep.

Midnight prayer is one of the ways that God will use to return the power and anointing to the church and person Christians. And when this power comes, it shall break each yoke, each chain and each satanic bondage. Let’s see in the bible where and how the chains of the enemy were broken through this. “They were gravely beaten, and they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t escape. So he took no prospects but put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks. Around midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a great earthquake, and the prison was shaken to it is foundations. All the doors flew open and the chains of each prisoner fall off!” Acts 16: 23 – 26.

You recognise the above story. At Philippi, Paul and Silas conducted deliverance ministration that landed them into trouble. They were beaten, bound with chains and put into the inner dungeon of the prison. Dungeon is an underground prison cell. This is what was largely applied in those days. Also, the Jailer was severely instructed to make sure that these men of God did not escape. This is precisely what Satan and his agents do to humans in their captivity. They mess their victims up and also keep them as hostages. Like I said earlier, a lot of persons are bound with satanic chains today.

They move around like normal humane beings, but when you see them in the spirit they are bound with fetters. This is commonly done through witchcraft and other demonic manipulations. The victims of this kind of satanic influence will live all their life without any significant success, unless those fetters are broken. Some, their destinies would be locked up by these enemies. Others, their businesses, their wombs or marriages would be held. We have likewise seen cases where projects (like building) were stop through this kind of manipulations. They will plainly cripple the person’s source of income or inflict him/her with an incurable sickness and that will be the end of the project.

There are others that have been employed for cash rituals, sacrifices, etc. Though they will be alive, but they will live as imbeciles all the days of their life. Others are likewise manipulated into sinful habits like drinking, stealing, prostitution, etc, and will be in the long run destroyed. We also see persons who are kept in bondages by demonic spirits e.g., marine spirits, ancestral spirit, territorial spirits, etc. Some of these may sound strange, but surely not to people form Africa and galore other parts of the world. Though satanic bondages are not fixed to these places. There is no boundary to their operations. Every surroundings has it is own peculiar situations. We have seen a case where a lady at her late 30s was married to a very powerful demonic entity that visits her from another continent. I ministered to her personally.

This demonic being comes with an invisible aircraft that only the lady will be seeing and dodging. Immediately the aircraft lands, a white man would alight from it and come to stay with her. After, this demon goes back as it came. It made it inconceivable for this very pretty and tall lady to marry in the physical or even go to school. This was her circumstance until that yoke was broken. We see this type of cases regularly in deliverance sessions. The operations of the kingdom of darkness are so vast that you would meet cases that would be difficult to comprehend. Some have been chained by Satan and demons assigned to watch over them like the Jailer was instructed to watch over Paul and Silas. Any demonic entity assigned to watch over you fate will be blinded from today, in Jesus’ name!

One may also be in the church and still be a victim of satanic fetters. Sometimes because of the person’s disobedient to the word of God, ancestral links or just evil arrows shot into the person’s life, exceptionally in the dreams. Whatever is your case, God has promised to break the chains and set you free. In Isaiah 61:1, He said that “…the captives will be freed and the prisoners will be freed.” He likewise said in the same Isaiah 49:24, “who may snatch the plunder of war from the hands of a warrior? Who may demand that a tyrant (Satan) let his captives go? But the LORD says, ‘The captives of warriors will be released, and the plunder of tyrants (demonic forces) will be retrieved.” God bless! By Catie Vargas
I just want to say that I loved this book. After the first book which I loved also. I was excited to learn that there was going to be second book. I could not put these books down.

In this book we are still following Harper who still lives at Shadowford and also is the newest recruit for the Demons cheer leading squad. But something is always bothering Harper. Like Why she can not remember anything about before she was cheerleader, And why she finds herself drawn to Jackson Hunt even though she does not remember meeting him before.

Harper finds herself dealing with alot of questions that need answers too, but for some reason no one wants to give her the answers. She wants to know why she can not remember anything. And why the adult women in the town are soon protective of her. But no matter who she asks and ow she asks no one wants to give her any answers.

In this great sequel to an great first novel we have plenty of twists and turns that will always keep you guessing wha is going to happen next. I devoured this book in one day. I could not put it down. I loved the way the author was able to draw me into the story and keep me wanting more at the same time. This book has very well drawn characters and a great plot that the author follows really well. I would defiantly recommend that this book be read as to how great it is and also please do read Beautiful Demons. This series has the makings of becoming one of my favorite series’s.

The debate over whether homework is still a viable learning tool or has become outdated has genuinely been going on for a heap of years. The trend in this debate seems to be heading in the direction of “outdated” but there surely is no consensus yet. The components I see as most significant in this issue are societal, centered on the family, and are principally based on TIME; and as such, are improbable to be reversed.

Top 3 Reasons Why Homework Should Be Banned:

1. Family time gets introductory priority.

Family life has changed substantially over the past few decades. With today’s high divorce rate, galore parents spend a great deal of time just shuffling children back and forth. Each parent values the time with their child and the child values the time expended with each parent.

The financial realities of life now dictate that both adults in the home need to have jobs, but those jobs do not always coincide. Many of the jobs in today’s society are not the old ordinary 9-5 kind of jobs. When parents get home, they very oftentimes fetch their own version of homework.

Many families are having to deal with military deployments to respective parts of the world, and all indications are that we will be deploying soldiers as “peacekeepers” for numerous years to come. A parent on deployment may be gone for up to a year at a time. Some families have had to deal with multiple deployments. In a few cases both parents have been deployed at the same time.

For each of these situations and a good deal of others, family time becomes too precious to spend on school homework.

2. Children are too busy.

In years past, children came home from school, changed clothes, went outside to play with the neighbor kids until dark, did their homework–sometimes with parental help, and then went to bed early. Not so anymore!

Today, a huge percentage of children are involved in some kind of sport after school. It may be Little League, or league soccer, swimming at the “Y,” football, volleyball, etc., but kids are involved in sports. Many also take music lessons, or dance, or gymnastics, or even language lessons. Some children are involved in scouting. Some are active with church activities. The list of potential involvements is rather long; but the point is that by the time children get home, THEY ARE TIRED!

School homework is the very last thing they want to do.

3. Teens are even busier.

Many teenagers are involved in the same kinds of activenesses as their younger siblings, but they may likewise be involved in school actions like band, drama, debate club, etc. Some teens play school sports as well as league sports. And on top of everything, some teens have jobs. Many of the teens who don’t do school activities, work a occupation after school each day.

When are these students supposed to do school homework?

Certainly, it may be argued that a student’s “job” will have to be learning first; and, I hate to confess that I said those words once or twice in my instructing career. However, we all will have to realize that life changes and we ought to adjust to those changes. To proceed to require homework of students whose families endorse their activenesses is plainly not fair. The schools cannot be in a position of punishing the child (for failing to do homework) when the family considers other things more important.

Rena’s Promise Two Sisters In Auschwitz

Renas Promise Two Sisters In Auschwitz

Sent to Auschwitz on the original Jewish transport, Rena Kornreich pulled through the Nazi death camps for over three years. While there she was reunited with her sister Danka. Each day became a struggle to fulfill the promise Rena made to her mother when the family was forced to split apart–a promise to take care of her sister.

One of the few Holocaust memoirs in regards to the lives of women in the camps, Rena’s Promise is a compelling story of the fleeting humane connections that fostered determination and made survival a possibility. From the bonds amidst mothers, daughters, and sisters, to the links amid prisoners, and even prisoners and guards, Rena’s Promise reminds us of the humanity and hope that survives inordinate inhumanity.

From Publishers WeeklyImagining that, by volunteering for a work camp, she would in some manner be protecting her family from the Nazis, Rena, at age 17, put on her best clothes, left her fiance and the Polish village of Tylicz in the Carpathian Mountains and was sent off to Auschwitz. Presently, her sister Danka arrived, as did cousins, schoolmates and neighbors. As a child, she had promised her mother to look after her baby sister, and that promise obsessed her allround her incarceration in the camp. It gave her reason to survive, so that one day she could fetch Danka safely home. How they escaped starvation, beatings, the crematorium, the medical experiments of the notorious Josef Mengele and pulled through the end of the war is all recounted here in this spirited survivor’s testament, written with freelancer Macadam. After the war, Rena married a Red Cross worker and emigrated to the U.S., following her sister.
Copyright 1995 Reed Business Information, Inc.

From Library JournalGelissen, who was on the primary Jewish transport to Auschwitz, describes in this account the neverending struggle for survival in the camp. She soon learns there were no guarantees. Rena’s motivation came strongly from a promise to her parents to keep her younger sister, Danka, safe. Her account describes the relentless specter of death while at the same time showing how prisoners would danger their lives to smuggle medicine, clothes, and feed to other prisoners. Because Rena was an early prisoner in Auschwitz, she describes some of the confusedness at the beginning and the realization of what was actually happening to the Jewish people. Helpful features of the book include historical notes and a section describing the fate of the people the sisters knew. This essay captures the horror of Auschwitz in a clear way that helps the reader comprehend the atrocities perpetrated there. Recommended for Holocaust collections.

5Danka’s Grandson
By ABrandel05
Hey everyone, I am Danka (Dina) Brandel’s grandson, Andrew Brandel. Rena is my great aunt. It’s really great to hear all of your praise about the book, and that you enjoyed reading about the stories I grew up on. My grandma gave these first hand accounts often, especially when I was younger and I know our whole family was very excited when my Tante Rena wrote it all down. They are both as amazing people in real life as they are portrayed in the story, I can assure you first hand. Anyway, I am glad you all enjoyed their story!

5Raw and moving
By Anyechka
This was a very involving and detailed book; even though the content can be too much for some people, I really like how many specific details were given about what happened every day, instead of, like some other Shoah memoirs, just skipping between the most important events during the author’s incarceration, or not giving enough details about daily life. I’ve read some pretty detailed Shoah memoirs, but this one by far has been the most intricately detailed one, complete with footnotes elaborating even further on the event or date being described. Rena and Danka were also prisoners in the camp from practically the very beginning, among the first civilian transports, as opposed to how there were originally only male political prisoners there. These incredible sisters had some incredible strokes of luck the way they escaped nearly certain death so many times, like when they just walked away from the roll call taking place before Mengele was to begin medical experiments or when Rena evaded detection at several roll calls after she stole potatoes in the last camp they were in. I would have liked some extra chapters on how they got by after the liberation too, but the afterword sufficed, telling us the basics about what happened to them and their friend Dina, as well as the fates of the various other people we met throughout the book, like the male prisoners who helped to save them at various points, or the fate of their other relatives and friends. I also liked how the story was told in nonlinear perspective at the beginning (i.e., in different voices and at different times). It was also surprising to read at the beginning that Rena had had her tattoo surgically removed and kept it in a jar of formaldehyde; I’ve only heard of a handful of survivors who elected to have their tattoos removed.

On her hit television show ‘Tiny and Toya’, Antonia ‘Toya’ Carter seems to be living the good life: she has a gorgeous home, good friends, and is carrying out or participate in her dreams in fashion design. But hers has been a life of peaks and valleys. Abandoned by her parents as a child, she was passed from family fellow member to family fellow member as her mother sank deeper into her drug addiction. Feeling unloved and unwelcomed, Toya fell into the arms of a 15-year-old rising musical star—Dwayne Michael Carter, known these days as the rapper ‘Lil Wayne’– and ended up pregnant at the tender age of 14.

In Priceless Inspiration, Toya takes the reader through the pain of being a teenage mother engaged in a struggle to raise a child while still a child herself—without the gain of the guidance of her own mother. Using the words she recorded in the journals she held as a teen—and the wisdom she has gained in the years since—Toya bares her own struggles, using them to offer young women real and heartfelt understanding and counsel with regards to sex, relationships, motherhood and growing up.

5GOOD JOB!
By BOOKLOVER
It’s for younger girls, pre-teens and teenagers. I still like the book i couldn’t put it down. I was eagered to find out would happen next. I think she needed a little help because her thoughts were everywhere. After reading the book i think that she might not be fully over him as she may think. I’m sure writing this book bought back alot of memories. She wants to move on from being wayne “babymamma/ex-wife” I don’t think she can move on from it. First, she still have his last name. Second, they have a daughter together and he even foreward the book. I though that was really nice of him. I think that part of her life will always follow her. Even when she gets married. I’m going to give this book to my 16yrs old sister. I’m sure she will learn something from it.

5Priceless…
By Mz_Shellz
I’ve been wanting to read this book for sometime now && it’s a very inspirational book for young ladies and women that have been through any struggle in love. The Previous reviews bash Toya for wanting fame and not being able to live her life, this lady is married, has her own clothing store, helping her mom in every way possible, bringing her family together, Plus So Much More and every female that had a negative comment can’t accomplish one not even two of those things PLUS be able to smile and talk about it. Who isn’t going to still have love for they first love, first husband, child’s father, first EVERYTHING ?!? I did and just like she had to sit herself down n move on so has EVERYONE else in life. Point is Toya not perfect because she’s in the industry she lives her life day by day like everyone else but has more to cherish then most.

4I wish Toya the best of luck on everything
By jaethomas
I am very proud of Toya. I like the fact that she has overcome a lot of her struggles and is now making a conscience effort to repair her family. However, I wouldn’t exactly say the book is inspirational, but more of a mini biography. She covered a lot of things from her past mostly about her past with “Lil Wayne” A.K.A. “Dream” in the book. She has mentioned “Dream” in just about every chapter of the book in some way, shape or form. As she was recalling stories from her past, she would mention something, then refer to something else, then go back to the same thing she had previously mentioned. It seemed as though she could not completely gather her thoughts on how to properly portray her childhood. She was very complacent. The book got better as the chapters progressed as far as oganization is concerned. Also, I felt as though she carried “Dream” with her in EVERY part of her life even when she tried her hardest to show us her growth and move on from him. For example, she would give a little positive information for inspiration but then find some way to refer to “Dream” again. I get the feeling that she is not over “Dream”. She seemed more focused on her relationship with “Dream” in this book than inspiring anyone. To be honest, I would have loved her to tell more about how she dealt with life as a teen mom at age 14 and how that situation helped her become the woman she is today. I felt like she offered us more of her “man problems as a teen” rather than “being a mother as a teen”.

5At last, the Halo series has come full circle.
By Relytia
It seems these days we gamers get inundated with HD remakes and remasters all the time, most of which amount to nothing more than bare-boned ports slapped with some up-rez paint and stretched to widescreen and, most importantly, the price of a brand new game. Until now, those seemed like adequate, maybe even “good” efforts. Not anymore. Developers of the world, start taking notes; THIS is how you do a truly awesome, worthwhile remake. 343 Industries was not content to lazily shove a ten-year-old game into your face with no substantial updates and call it a remake, using manipulative, fancy terms like “HD” and “remastered.” No, instead they opted for something much more grand, and much more glorious. There’s a lot to cover here about Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, so I’ll get right to the campaign. If you don’t like long reviews, tough, don’t read this one. Halo CE is too great to be confined to a short, anemic review, and this version deserves a lot of detail. I make no apologies for that. I’ll tell you right now, this is an absolutely incredible deal at $40 (it would be a great deal at $60!). Halo fans rejoice, the developers have heard your cries and answered them in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary!

5A remake worth making
By Khadrelt
Usually I don’t get excited for remakes. This one, in fact, I ordered simply so I could run the original Halo on a 360 without emulation. I honestly wasn’t expecting a lot–but I sure got it!

The Lens & The Looker Book #1 Of The

The Lens The Looker Book 1 Of The @ Amazon.com

Understanding telephoto lenses is the easy share of selecting a lens to buy for your digital SLR camera. Selecting the right lens in the shape and size that fits your needs is the hard part! There are only a few major camera brands and models to choose a camera from but the number of lenses available will make your head spin! How do you find the best Nikon telephoto lenses? How do you select the best telephoto lens for an Olympus camera? How do you know which telephoto lenses for Canon Rebel cameras are right for the right job? Which sigma telephoto lenses for Nikon D80 is the one for you? Where do you go to get telephoto lenses explained?

If you are overwhelmed by the selections you are not alone. Digital SLR lenses come in all shapes and sized and prices! Some are for novice photographers and others are designed specifically for masters who need a studio work lens like a Tiffen close up lens or journalists need sports telephoto lenses.

So let’s have a look at the basi principles of lens selection and the driving elements for this crucial and potentially actually highpriced investment:

  1. Camera Type – what brand of camera you have DOES determine lens compatibility. Not all brands are interchangeable. Just like cars, manufacturers won’t you committed to their brand. Camera lenses now ought to ‘talk’ to the camera. That is how aperture settings get mechanically changed by the camera’s input. Due to that your camera and your lens have to speak the same ‘language’…the language of Nikon lenses to Nikon cameras and Canon lies to Canon Camera.
  2. Lens Mount – the lens mount is the way the lens ‘fits’ on the camera body. Manufacturers have their own specific design so that you will have to buy lenses specific to that camera and that manufacturer. There are third party lens manufacturers but when selecting one of their lenses you must select the style of lens with your camera brand’s compatible mount.
  3. Right Lens for Right Job – knowing what you intend to use the lens to capture helps you narrow the decision of the type of lens to purchase. You ought to recognise the focal length of the types of pictures you wish to take as well as the greatest or most complete or best possible aperture. A normal lens is akin to what the humane eye sees (usually a 50mm lens that comes standard on a 35 mm camera). A zoom lens (telephoto lens) lets us ‘see’ beyond the humane eye. We may ‘see’ much further with a telephoto lens than we may normally. It enhances and elaborates our view. The more prominent the lens number in mm the more outstanding the distance the lens may shoot. If you are shooting birds on the far side of the river you will want a 300-750mm perhaps. If you are on the sidelines at your kids’ lacrosse game you might prefer a 200-500mm lens. Like your dad always said, “Choose the right tool for the right job!”

It does not matter if you are looking for the best Nikon telephoto lenses or telephoto lenses for Canon Rebel cameras. Even if you want to find the right Sigma camera lens that are compatible with your Olympus DSLR, selection is all based on personal choice of digital lens length and understanding telephoto lenses.

The Lens The Looker Book 1 Of The

It’s the 24th century and humans, with the support of artificial intelligences, (A.I.s) have in the long run formulated the perfective society. To make evenly perfective citizens for this world, the elders have produced History Camps, full-sized recreations of cities from Earth’s distant pasts. Here teens live the way their ancestors did, doing the same dirty jobs and experiences the same degradations. History Camps instruct youths not to repeat the faults that closely caused the planet to die. But not everything goes to plan.Like in all groups of youth, there are those who rebel, “hard cases” who just don’t get it. In this firstborn installment of a trilogy, three spoiled teens from the year 2347 are kidnapped back in time to 1347 Verona, Italy. There they are abandoned and left with only two choices: adjust to the harsh medieval ways, or die. Hansum, closely 17, is good looking, athletic and, as his A.I. teacher says, he may charm the fuzz off a peach. Shamira is 15. She has green eyes, auburn hair, and a Caucasian complexion. That’s something persons don’t see that much of in the 24th century. She’s sassy, independent and has an artistic talent for drawing. Lincoln, 14, is the smart-aleck. But you don’t have to scratch too far beneath the surface to find his insecurities. There are two types of artificial intelligences (A.I.s) in the 24th-century. The primary are authorized by society and very conservative. Then there are ‘genies’. Made by black-market hackers, or blackers, these rascals are the bi-polar opposite of their unadventurous cousins. A genie’s intention in life is to support rebellious youth make mischief. Pan, is a very mischievous genie. A curious mix of past and future, he’s an eccentric, all-knowing, holographic artificial intelligence in the cartoon shape of the vaunted Greek god. Pan’s jokes and perceptivities get the kids both into and out of trouble. Our three teen protagonists meet at a History Camp where everything and everyone must act like it is 14th-century Verona, Italy. Society’s plan is to put trouble-making kids into situations where they are “scared straight”. But Hansum knows better. He’s conscious that behind the scenes there are armies of people and A.I.’s making sure they are safe. Using Pan, the teens devise a plan to drive the History Camp enactors crazy, and they succeed. But what they’re not prepared for is that a History Camp elder from the 31st century, (where time-travel is possible) kidnaps them back to the real medieval Verona. Here they are indentured to an alcoholic lens maker. Now, unquestionably, the dangers are real. All of this is hardly the idealisti surroundings to fall in love – but, for Hansum, that’s incisively what happens. Guilietta is the finelooking daughter of the master the teens are working for. She becomes the star-crossed and time-crossed lover of our story’s Romeo – Hansum. In fact, the novel is peppered with lots of fun allusions to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. In an undertake to survive the teenage trio, with Pan’s help, risks introducing technology from the future. It could save them – or it could alter history.

About the Author

“I write Post-Dystopian fiction. After society’s collapse, which is imagined in so a great deal of great dystopian stories, people will either fade into history with the dinosaurs or, if it learns the right lessons, society will go on to construct a civilization to last tens of thousands of years. History Camp stories are the stimulating adventures of young people doing the latter.”  -Lory Kaufman

On the artistic side of Lory Kaufman’s career, he’s written, acted and directed children’s theatre and musical theatre. He enjoys art, exceptionally sculpture. He loves science fiction and historical fiction and he has been deeply involved in the green motion all throughout North America. 4Exciting time-travel adventure
By The Flashlight Reader
Hansum, Shamira, and Lincoln are all “hard cases” from the 24th century. They are spoiled, lazy, and resilient to the lessons that the elders of their society try to teach. In a desperate measure to get the teens to learn from their mistakes, they are whisked away to History Camp–a reenactment of some of the hardest times from history. History Camps are designed to teach even the hardest 24th century kids a lesson about the past. Unfortunately, Hansum, Shamira, and Lincoln are too smart for their own good; they manage to disrupt the “lesson.” Thinking that they have successfully interrupted the History Camp Elder’s plans, the three teens are surprised to find themselves being approached by a time-traveling man. This man–Artemis–transports (i.e. kidnaps) the teens to the real 14th century Verona, Italy.

3A fun read, disappointed with language
By KW
I thought this was a very interesting concept. I feel like all too often our current society forgets to reflect on the past in order to gain perspective and knowledge of ways to improve our future. History does often repeat itself.

For the most part, the book was well written. I felt like this book could have been shorter, several scenes became wordy and over explained. The character development was well done, I felt I knew the different personalities and could relate to their emotions and situations. The biggest problem I had was the language. There are a couple of swear words that not only were unnecessary, but out of context for the 14th century. I labeled this book as Young Adult, but I really feel like the story would be best suited for children 10 -15 years old, minus the language. It’s a shame, I think E would have really liked this book.

The storyline was entertaining, unique and adventurous – not always believable, but a fun read. I love the unknown of whether or not they are still under the protection of the History Camp Elders. I look forward to following the series to see what happens next with our 3 Hard Cases. It was certainly fun to watch them grow and fill their new roles in this ancient society.

4History like you’ve never experienced it before~!!
By Jennifer Chatham
The Lens and the Looker is book one in the Verona Series (History Camp: the Verona Trilogy)

Hansum, Shamira and Lincoln are three teenagers who like to create chaos wherever they go. They don’t like to follow rules or listen to their elders and for that reason, they are sentenced to a session at History Camp where for the next two weeks, they will live in 14th century Verona, serving their time while living the hard reality of another.

Arriving at their destination, the three work to upset the balance of their teachers and enactors. Working as “apprentices” to an eye glass maker, the three play a few pranks and earn the wrath of their elders and are sent to bed without any supper. However, before they can decide if they have pushed the gambit too far, a mysterious man, who speaks in rhyme and prose, appears and whisks them through a time travel portal and takes them to the real Verona, a place where their are no teachers to stop the program and protect them. The three must learn to survive until the mysterious stranger arrives to take them back home.

Again, they are placed in the care of an eye glass maker and his family. Believing they aren’t really in dangers harm, the three conspire to do the same and bring the attentions of the teachers to their aid. However, there is no one listening and when accidents befall them, they realize that they are in this for real and only their wits will keep them alive. Changing the course of history, the three begin to realize that if they make the wrong choice or influence the wrong thing, then maybe they will undo their own existence and change history forever!

I really enjoyed this book and the characters portrayed within. The concept of History Camps is a rather interesting one and the ability to go back in time and experience life first hand would be a very creative way to spend your time. I enjoyed the characters and the humour that ensues. I found everyone to be believable in their roles and the history that is dispersed throughout the pages, concerning ancient Verona, were most enjoyable to read. It’s like getting a history lesson without even realizing it!

There are a few minor expletives, but nothing that defracts from the enjoyment of the story, and the violence is mild to moderate. The background description of their place in history was well done and I could almost imagine myself walking through the streets of the market. The mystery of how the children will return keeps you reading to see where their antics are going to lead them next as well, their coming into their own was well-balanced and read well. At first you disliked the spoiled, rude, obnoxious children but as the story progresses you watch them mature and come to love them, even Lincoln, whose sassy mouth continously lands him into troubles of some sort or another.

I cannot wait to read the next book in the series, I would recommend this for young adults and anyone who enjoys fantasy and history combined. I think author Lory Kaufman has done a magnificent job of creating a fantasy that can give us a break from our reality for a few hours.

Bitter Demons

Find Bitter Demons at Amazon

Demon possession is real and silently affects most souls on Earth. Below we will outline sensations or changes and signs of real demonic possession and what to look out for.

Demons succeed in not being detected due to “partial possession”. What most persons do not perceive is that demons seek to only “partially” possess the mind, body and soul of a humane being. They do this because they wish to stay undetected within the soul of a humane being. These demon spirits seek to disrupt a soul’s spiritual path and to steal it is light. They do this by causing addictions within the soul and by increasing sensations of low-self worth, self-hate, anger, rage, hate, grief, sadness, depression and anxiety. The majority of humane beings who are possessed by these dark entities have no idea they have such an entity within them.

Demons pray on souls who are in a weakened state emotionally, mentally and physically. This weakened state causes splits and fractures in the soul and leads to “holes” in the aura. Demon entities are then competent to enter the soul without detection. Most demon possession occurs as a result of the soul “fragmenting” due to aroused trauma or shock or fright. This phenomena is explained by Jesus Christ in the following channeled message from Kim Michaels:

Jesus Christ: “As the soul experiences a traumatic situation, a percentage of it separates itself from the main part of the soul. When a percentage of the soul’s substance has been split off, there is a vacuum inside the soul. Because of the imperfect conditions found on this planet, it is highly likely that the vacuum is invaded by non-material beings such as demons. The tremendous majority of humane beings have numerous kind of split or fracture in their souls, and accordingly have been invaded.”

Symptoms And Signs You Are Demon Possessed

Demon possession is almost always responsible for the following humane conditions: mental illness, depression, schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, multiple personality disorder, paranoia, acute anxiety, panic attacks, personality disorder, psychosis, delusional disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, narcissistic personality, serial killing, rape / murder / torture, mental / aroused / sexual abusing, child molestation / pedophilia, addiction (drug, alcohol, sex, obesity, etc), eating disorders, suicide and suicidal thoughts, self-harming conduct (cutting), Alzheimer’s / dementia, insomnia.

The above conditions are more chronic sensations or changes of a “large” number of demon and earthbound spirits having gained entry into the soul. Demon spirits in less numbers are ordinarily responsible for causing physical pain, cramps, physical illnesses, headaches, mood swings, and more intense “fear-based” emotions such as anger, hate, bitterness, depression, sadness, anxiety and low self-worth.

This article has been written to educate souls on this phenomena of demon possession and to let you recognise there are a heap of tools available on the under noted website to protect you from these dark forces and to cleanse your soul of any existent demon entities.

5great books
By Catie Vargas
I was so ecstatic when I was given the chance to read Bitter Demons. Since I had the opportunity to read the other two books in this series, I have found myself completely attached. The orignal story line and realistic characters drew me in from the first page and kept me devouring the pages through the night. This is a book you can’t put down and may cause you to neglect your daily routine.

The book resumes where Inner Demons leaves off. Harper is just out of the hospital, she and Jackson are spending as much time together as possible. When another Demon gate comes to visit Peachville for their annual football game, Harper is happy to meet a few different futures. However, everything goes awry all too quickly. Harper really grows into her powers as she sets out to find one of the abducted futures.

This story gives us further glimpses into Peachville’s past, as well as, more information about the original demons and the original coven. The details of what happened to Harpers mother are finally revealed along with the particulars of Jackson’s history and family.

With all that these books have, I would venture to say they’re one of my favorite series. Bitter Demons is all around fantastic. I anticipate the day that Harper finds out all secrets the town has to hold.

4My favorite of the series
By E. Pescetto
This series is one of the better ones I’ve read of all the affordable ‘indie’ ebooks out there in the market right now! The whole world the author has created is definitely interesting and unique, with the secretive Order of Shadows and how they force shadow demons into serving them.

5Excellant book, easy reading
By Robi Lynn
What can I say about Bitter Demons that hasn’t already been said about the previous two books of the series, Beautiful Demons and Inner Demons? Actually, a lot! I was thankful that I already had this one down loaded so that I could continue reading when I finished reading Inner Demons. I applaud Sarra in the smooth correlation between the two books.

As you follow along with Harper as she learns to deal and control her abilities, you connect with her. You are drawn to her strong personality and you feel for her as she discovers the truth about herself, the town and her mother. She is strong willed, and a good person. I can’t wait to see what a strong vibrant woman she grows into in book #4. Good job Sarra Cannon.

Economic Facts And Fallacies Second Edition

Economic Facts And Fallacies Second Edition 3

In Economic Facts and Fallacies, Thomas Sowell discloses numerous of the most frequent fallacies regarding economic issues in a lively manner that does not require any prior cognition of economics. These fallacies include a lot of beliefs widely circulated in the media and by politicians, such as fallacies in regards to urban problems, income differences, male-female economic differences, as well as economic fallacies regarding academia, with regards to race, and in regards to Third World countries.

Sowell shows that fallacies are not merely crazy ideas but in fact have a sure plausibility that gives them their staying power–and makes careful examination of their flaws both necessary and important.

5Excellent Reference…
By Stephen Dean
I got this book to check out Sowell’s take on the “Vanishing Middle Class.” In just a few paragraph’s he is able to completely turn that notion on it’s head… and show why the oft repeated claim is jibberish. I now know this book will be an excellent resource for fighting commonly held economic fallacies. Yesterday I read the chapter on Men vs. Women pay. The commonly held belief is that women don’t make as much as a man because of discrimination. While keeping an open minded view that discrimination could come in to play, Sowell delivers an extremely convincing alternative argument for the discrepancy in pay. This book really is an eye opener.

5Willful Error…Forever.
By Bernard Chapin
Economic Fallacies is the third book by Thomas Sowell I’ve read this year and it continues to illustrate why he is one of the most important conservatives in America today. His writing beams with scholarship and clarity. There are no wasted words and the work is an arsenal of information. These chapters should be read and reread as they thoroughly refute the positions of those who irrationally regard America as being a racist, sexist and corrupt state.

5If only Sowell’s knowledge and wisdom were more widely known
By Jerry Saperstein
There is no end to the exposure of crackpot left-wing theorists in the media. Happening upon an appearance of a conservative economist like Thomas Sowell in the media, however, is extraordinary, which is the nation’s loss.

Sowell is a prolific writer, but I doubt he reaches a fraction of the audience of a crank like Paul Krugman.

In this slim volume, Sowell exposes, refutes and debunks six of the major economic fallacies of our time:

1. Urban Facts and Fallacies
2. Male-Female Facts and Fallacies
3. Academic Facts and Fallacies
4. Income Facts and Fallacies
5. Racial Facts and Fallacies
6. Third World Facts and Fallacies

As you’ve probably noticed, these are six of the major flashpoint issues of our times – and Sowell knocks down the myths and lies the left-wing has worked so hard to spread.

For example, Sowell shows how elitists have made the most desirable areas of California unaffordable for all but the very rich through restrictive policies. This results in various hypocrisies, such as driving out poor blacks from places like San Francisco and also contributes to the fallacy of a lack of “affordable housing”. The latter is not the fault of evil conservatives, but of very selfish left-wingers.

Sowell applies his truly formidable knowledge and scalpel-like logic to each of these six fallacies, slicing away the untruths and revealing that the United States is not a nation of massive inequalities, but is in fact still the land of opportunity.

As Sowell puts it so well, “[s]ome things are believed because they are demonstrably true. But many things are believed because they are consistent with a widely held vision of the world – and this vision is accepted as a substitute for facts.” For those willing to learn, Sowell demolishes six major myths here. Would that there were more like Sowell – and those willing to learn from him.
